On March 14, 2024, the Telecom Regulatory Authority of India i.e. TRAI issued a new guideline for the use of SIM cards. After that the directive came into force from last 1st July. The TRAI's guidelines laid down several rules regarding the use of SIM cards. And within that guideline it was stated how many SIMs a person can get with his Aadhaar card.
According to the TRAI guidelines, individuals across the Indian states can get a maximum of 9 SIM cards with their Aadhaar card. But only residents of some eastern regions, including Jammu and Kashmir, can get a maximum of 6 SIM cards with their single Aadhaar card.

How much is the penalty for using more SIM cards?
Many times various corruptions and frauds are seen around this telecom system of the country. Ever since the campaign to port Jio SIM to BSNL has started, according to an estimate, messages from 60 thousand people were received in just 10 days. All of them have left Jio and adopted BSNL. This number should be increased to lakhs, crores of people, so that this looting stops.
1.If a person from different states of the country has more than 9 SIM cards with his Aadhaar card, he may have to pay a fine of up to 50 thousand rupees.
2.If a person from the North East region including Jammu and Kashmir uses more than 6 SIM cards using his Aadhaar card, he will have to pay a fine of Rs 2 lakh.
